Dead Flowers

I paint dead flowers.
Sometimes when they are almost dead, I see their twists and shreddings, their incessant wilting and I think well that’s pretty too.

Before the internet, we popped popcorn and watched the time lapse photography which proved that all four hooves of a galloping horse do leave the ground at the same time!

I kept a Christmas amaryllis around well after it’s lustre had faded, reminding my daughters every day for two months that life with an artist was going to require explanation at times; that and create a time lapse experiment in acrylic paint.
